As the General Contractor, WCL constructed a storm water management facility, serviced the project with sanitary, storm, sewer, and shallow utilities and hard surfaced 32 Ave SW and 119A Street SW, complete with boulevard landscaping and multiuse trails. This project was to further the development of the Heritage Valley area and for providing access to the new Catholic High School. This project was awarded to WCL after a proposal-based submission, and WCL was able to achieve the City’s milestone date schedule as originally tendered. The scope of work included:

  • Premobilization documents including Traffic Accommodation Plans, ECO Plans, Site Safety Plans, Project Hazard Assessment, Emergency Response Plans and scheduling
  • Site calibration and preconstruction topographical survey
  • Coordination with pipeline companies to facilitate construction adjacent to and crossing existing (high pressure) pipeline utilities
  • Unsuitable soil removal, topsoil stripping, site cuts to fills, SWMF excavation, clay import (242,000m3).
  • Installation of new storm and sanitary sewers and watermain to connect to the existing system and provide services to mixed use and multifamily lots (approx. WM 1500m, SAN 1600m, STM 2300m (including CB leads)
  • Installation of inlet/outlet SWMF structures
  • Deep utility crossings (4) below an active pipeline crossing utilizing case boring
  • Decommissioning of a watermain
  • Construction of shallow utilities including gas, street lighting, power and tele-communications including within pipeline right-of-way (27,000m)
  • Surface works construction of roads (17,300m2), sidewalks and bike paths (4200m), shared-use paths (1420m) and pararamps (30)
  • Landscaping of roadway boulevards and public green spaces including Public Utility Lots (PULs) and SWMF (approx. 380 trees, 270 shrubs, 18,000m2 seed area, 10,700m2 sod area)
  • Installation, maintenance of Erosion and Sediment Control (ESC) measures and ESC reporting during construction and maintenance & warranty period until issuance of Final Acceptance Certificate (FAC)
